PATCHYOURSELF · PRACTICAL HANDOUT
My first security steps
One action at a time. Tick completed steps and keep this handout nearby.
Protect my email
Use a long unique password or a passkey, then additional sign-in protection where needed. Prepare account recovery too.
Save my passwords
A password manager creates and stores different passwords for my accounts. Public examples must not be reused.
Verify before responding
An urgent request, payment or sign-in code: verify through another known channel, without using the link or number in the message.
Update and lock
Check device and app updates. Enable automatic locking and shield the unlock code from view.
Back up and try a restore
Keep a separate copy of important files. Restore a test file to another folder without deleting the original.
If something goes wrong
If a suspicious payment is in progress, contact your bank immediately using its official number. Use a trusted device to secure your accounts. Keep evidence and follow the guide for your situation.
